Spain - Ideas On Where To Go

August 6th, 2010

Spain has become the must-see destination for over 50 million visitors every year, who come to this sun-blessed country to enjoy the amazing culture and ancient heritage as well as the great weather. Whether your tastes are more in tune with the fine art of Picasso or the flavors of a good Paella, Spain has something for everyone. Spain has opened several new airports in recent years, making it much easier to reach parts of the country that were once visited only by the hardiest of travelers. While this may make it more convenient to reach all the great sites, it has also made it more difficult to decide where to go.

For first time visitors, a visit to Spain’s great cities is a wonderful way to begin your trip. Cities like Barcelona, which graces the waters of the Mediterranean along the Southern coast. Originally a Roman port, this ultra-modern city is filled with fantastic sights that will astound even the most well-traveled tourist. Stops at the great Gothic cathedral of Santa Eulalia and Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia are a must. Then enjoy a walk along the beach, hunt for bargains in the many shops and finish the day with dinner at one of the fine restaurants that fill this city. Whether you spend a day or three, Barcelona has plenty to offer.

If you are looking for the perfect beach to work on your tan, then head down the coast to Alicante. This historic town has quickly become one of the top destinations in Spain, with its narrow, winding streets and ancient allure set atop miles of sand. Just a short train ride away is the World Heritage site of Palmeral of Elche. This palm grove is one of the largest in the world, and an amazing place to just sit and relax. If you are looking for something more lively during your beach crawl, then head to Tabarca, once home to some of the area’s most dangerous pirates.

A short drive down the road is the city of Murcia, which is famous for its shear variety of options. Take in the breathtaking views of the great mountains, or absorb some of the best architecture in the area. There is plenty of sunshine, of course, as well as the spectacular Mar Menor. You will never forget that picture-perfect sunset of the pristine waters of the Mar Menor’s great lagoon.

If you need dry heat, then you should definitely stop in Almeria, one of Spain’s major port destinations. Almeria has an average of 330 days of sunshine, every single year. You can visit Alcazaba, a Moorish castle if you are into history. Or, if you like movies, then you can go to the desert of Tabernas where many Hollywood westerns were made. And if you like scuba diving or snorkeling, then you have to go to Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park which offers the best diving anywhere.

If you are into extreme adventure, then you need to make Malaga one of your destinations on your vacation. It is close to the Costa del Sol which is another popular place to see. You can go tour the Picasso Museum, catch a bull fight or jump out of plane…all in one day. There is so much that Malaga and the Costa del Sol have to offer that you always be able to find something to suit your fancy. These two locations are very popular, not just with foreign travelers, but also with the Spanish.

Are Pet Friendly Hotels Really That Important In Your Travels

August 5th, 2010

When you travel you can also take your pet along with you, as there are pet friendly hotels available almost at all places and at an affordable price. But before you travel you have to locate some pet friendly hotels, as some hotels do not allow pets for night stay. It is very important that you contact the hotels you have planned to stay and make sure whether pets are also allowed.

Pet friendly hotels are similar to normal hotels. You can choose bed and breakfast hotels or even a spa and enjoy your trip with your pet beside you. As pet friendly hotels are available in minimum numbers in all the destinations you have to do advance booking. As these hotel rooms are of great demand, they will be booked earlier than typical hotels. For this reason, you have to plan ahead in booking room for you early when you have decided to travel with your pet. Particularly when your travel with your pet is related to pet shows, then the rooms in the destination will be exceptionally booked and therefore ensure comfortable accommodation for your pet before all rooms in the pet friendly hotels are gone.

Many of the pet friendly hotels have specific rooms set aside in the hotel especially for pet owners. These special rooms allow other guests in the hotel to spend their time comfortably in the hotel free from pet dander and also avoiding hearing some other pet’s noise. Some pet friendly hotels provide special place for pet dogs so that you can take your pet dog outside for some relief. Rarely some pet friendly hotels provide a few recreation areas like a dog park and this gives an opportunity for your dog for socialization with other pet dogs staying in the same hotel. Thepet friendly hotels provide facilities keeping in mind the pets and they also provide pet friendly dining so that your pet deserves special dining service from the hotel. In suchpet friendly hotels there will be an invitation often for your pet to do almost everything provided for pets and also additional activities are entertained for pets like dog camps. Such dog camps allow you to enjoy your trip with fun and by leaving the dog in this dog camp will entertain your dog also.

For all the services offered in a pet friendly hotel you need to spend some additional amount as they allow your pet to stay along with you with extra facilities. Though thepet friendly hotels allow pets, you always need additional supplements for your pet so that your pet enjoys staying along with you. The supplements offered bypet friendly hotels are not expensive as far as another persons staying in your room. The supplements will be a little bit expensive and the costs of the supplements depend on the type of hotel you have selected.

You need to do some research before you book in pet friendly hotels. You can get recommendations of pet friendly hotels from your friends and known persons who would have taken their pets to similar destinations earlier. Always do your bookings in advance, as the accommodation costs will be less expensive in advance bookings. Last minute bookings may cost you more and at times you may not be able to get a room.

Taking Your Car On Holiday

August 1st, 2010

While not many people associate going on holiday with driving their own car around, sometimes it just makes sense to take your beloved auto with you when you head off on a short - or long - break.

It could even be as simple as it just being a more viable option for you to drive to your destination as opposed to taking other transport. Not everybody heads off to big cities when they want to get away from it all, and if you’re visiting a smaller town, village or even disappearing off to a beautiful cottage in the countryside, sometimes the only way to get there is to take your car.

Of course, it isn’t always the case that you need to take your car, but sometimes it makes sense to bring it anyway. You may want to do a lot of exploring while you’re away, in which case having your trusted vehicle with you can save a lot of time and effort in hiring out a car from a local company which has controls you have to get to grips with before you can do any serious driving. And even if you’re not intending on hiring a car, having a convenient mode of transport with you is excellent should you and your family make a snap decision to visit some far off attraction that is only accessible on four wheels. And even if you’re not visiting any attraction in particular, if you’re new to an area or hoping to tour more of the country than public transport can offer, having your own car with you is perfect because it affords you the flexibility and convenience to ensure you get to see exactly what you want to see, when you want to see it.

It doesn’t cost much to pop your car onto a ferry if you’re visiting the mainland, Ireland or the islands dotted around the British coast - or even the European mainland if you fancy taking your car on a true adventure - and you could end up saving cash on other forms of transport by travelling in your car instead. Just be sure to check your car insurance is up to date before you head off and you can relax and look forward to an excellent trip away safe in the knowledge that, thanks to your car, the only itinerary you’ll have to follow is your own.

Of course abroad isn’t the only destination for holidays. If you are in the mood, there is the opportunity to discover a little more of mainland Britain as well.

Most Britons, despite having lived here their entire lives quickly find that there is a lot of the UK they haven’t seen, and would very much like to.

But, whether your holidays and domestic or abroad, remember taking the car on holidays provides a great framework for an enjoyable holiday.

Where May I Find Direction If Traveling?

July 27th, 2010

Nothing beats that intuitive sense that says, “I know exactly the place I’m traveling to.” Unfortunately, we are simply not programmable, as robots are. We cannot just download directions into our brains to be stored forever, so we rely on maps. Over the years, mapping has turned out to be so much more than just street maps and road atlas functions. Today we use online maps to advise us on local businesses, political news, weather, traffic and more. Google Maps has become the template of choice for a number of local food maps. At Menurequest, you can plot meals on a map of your city, as well as read/write reviews, make bookings and get driving directions. In Philadelphia, Community walk is an amazing resource for local event organizers who want to ask a number of nearby restaurants to participate. If traveling to Toeat, you will find a number of dining options in your neighborhood. In major cities like Philadelphia, Paris, Bangkok and Chicago, you will find baked goods at Yummybaguette. Or you may require to get your burrito fix at Burritophile. Drinkers can appreciate Wineandtimes, which helps plan a winery tour, as well as Drinktown, which lets you know all the local booze specials.

Google Maps is not the single “mashup maker” on the block to help a traveler, certainly. A number of non-Google applications have popped up to serve a wide variety of functions. For instance, if you live on a fault line, then visit Lerdorf, as you might appreciate the “Real-Time Earthquake Map.” If you are looking for nearby bloggers, movie showtimes, gas prices or driving directions, then you can see Atlas (based on MSN’s Virtual Earth interface) at Atlas Freshlogicstudios.

One of the most popular mapping sites is Flickr, where amateur photographers can share their pictures and create maps of their favorite places, people and things. Readers have given rave reviews for Gutenkarte, where lit lovers are able to read full books (such as Jules Verne’s “Around the World in 80 Days”) chapter by chapter, while seeing a map of the locations discussed in the book. When you prefer news to fiction when you travel to Jackson Hole Wyoming, see the world and local news at Mappedup or Poly9 Viavirtualearth (where MSNBC information is plotted out on a map!) You can find directions on your computer, on your positioning device or even on your cell phone when going to Jackson Hole Wyoming. The trend is that programmers are finding ways of bringing online maps to you, no matter where you are. For instance, if you find yourself lost anywhere with little time to recoup, never fear : Loki can track your location via satellite and send you a map to your next location in Jackson Hole Wyoming on your mobile phone. A number of phones, from the iPhone to the Android G1, are making MapQuest, Google Maps and Yahoo Maps techniques available to you when you are on-the-go.

What Kind Of People Go On Silversea Cruises?

July 22nd, 2010

Being a photographer on various cruise boats for several years, I managed to meet a great variety of people. I would say that being in a boat for 2 or more weeks generates some very different dynamics compared to the time we spend on the ground. People seem to be more open and relaxed as admittedly they will accept the fact that the boat is where everything happens from developing a new friendship and flirting with someone to breaking up and divorcing!

Any of those massive luxurious boats that cross the oceans are in a sense like small towns. One factor many people overlook at is the fact that on board there aren’t just passengers and holiday-makers but also members of staff that have to stay on the boat for long periods of time. It is strictly forbidden for those people to develop social relationships with the passengers but sometimes it is inevitable.

A common person to find in a luxury boat is about 60 years of age, wealthy and usually retired. Although they all belong to different professions and educational backgrounds, the bottom line is that the vast majority of them are very successful in their fields. Doctors, lawyers, publishers, editors, journalists, and civil engineers coexist with wealthy shop owners, entrepreneurs and tradesmen. That signifies that high education is not really one of the main factors, although a high income is.

Of course there is a small part of passengers who although they don’t make enough to be afford a luxury, they are happy saving hard in order to make their dream come true cruise. Some of them simply want to experience a different lifestyle which differs from their daily one greatly. Even though I gained most of my experiences on Silversea Cruises boats where I worked, other colleagues that used to work on Oceania Cruises and Cunard Cruises have had similar experiences.

When it comes to sports, golf is definitely the number one while cricket and polo are also popular. Taking up a luxury cruise for many people could be a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience but it is definitely worth it..
