Where May I Find Direction If Traveling?

July 27th, 2010

Nothing beats that intuitive sense that says, “I know exactly the place I’m traveling to.” Unfortunately, we are simply not programmable, as robots are. We cannot just download directions into our brains to be stored forever, so we rely on maps. Over the years, mapping has turned out to be so much more than just street maps and road atlas functions. Today we use online maps to advise us on local businesses, political news, weather, traffic and more. Google Maps has become the template of choice for a number of local food maps. At Menurequest, you can plot meals on a map of your city, as well as read/write reviews, make bookings and get driving directions. In Philadelphia, Community walk is an amazing resource for local event organizers who want to ask a number of nearby restaurants to participate. If traveling to Toeat, you will find a number of dining options in your neighborhood. In major cities like Philadelphia, Paris, Bangkok and Chicago, you will find baked goods at Yummybaguette. Or you may require to get your burrito fix at Burritophile. Drinkers can appreciate Wineandtimes, which helps plan a winery tour, as well as Drinktown, which lets you know all the local booze specials.

Google Maps is not the single “mashup maker” on the block to help a traveler, certainly. A number of non-Google applications have popped up to serve a wide variety of functions. For instance, if you live on a fault line, then visit Lerdorf, as you might appreciate the “Real-Time Earthquake Map.” If you are looking for nearby bloggers, movie showtimes, gas prices or driving directions, then you can see Atlas (based on MSN’s Virtual Earth interface) at Atlas Freshlogicstudios.

One of the most popular mapping sites is Flickr, where amateur photographers can share their pictures and create maps of their favorite places, people and things. Readers have given rave reviews for Gutenkarte, where lit lovers are able to read full books (such as Jules Verne’s “Around the World in 80 Days”) chapter by chapter, while seeing a map of the locations discussed in the book. When you prefer news to fiction when you travel to Jackson Hole Wyoming, see the world and local news at Mappedup or Poly9 Viavirtualearth (where MSNBC information is plotted out on a map!) You can find directions on your computer, on your positioning device or even on your cell phone when going to Jackson Hole Wyoming. The trend is that programmers are finding ways of bringing online maps to you, no matter where you are. For instance, if you find yourself lost anywhere with little time to recoup, never fear : Loki can track your location via satellite and send you a map to your next location in Jackson Hole Wyoming on your mobile phone. A number of phones, from the iPhone to the Android G1, are making MapQuest, Google Maps and Yahoo Maps techniques available to you when you are on-the-go.

Getting To Isle Of Wight From London

June 17th, 2010

Isle of Wight is famous for family holiday and also it’s music festival that goes on few times over the summer and many people are looking to go those festival one of which starts this weekend for few days. You will have to catch a wightlink ferry to get there as there is no luxury cruises that you can take to get to Isle of Wight (for posh people, joking).

How to get to Isle of Wight from London? You can catch a ferry from Portsmouth to Isle Of Wight and from London you have to choose which method of travel you will take to get to Portsmouth. There are different ways you can take to get to Portsmouth one is to catch a coach from Victoria or catch a train from Victoria or you can always drive. If you going to Isle of Wight for sight seeing then I would recommend taking your car.

Taking your car is the best thing to do as the public transport is not good in Isle of Wight and also you will need to drive to see beautiful scenery of Isle of Wight and the best thing is it will only tkae 1 to 2 hours to drive around the whole of the island. From London you can take the M25 then take M3 exit towards Southampton then merge into M27 after 52 miles in M3. From M27 Portsmouth is only approximately 20 miles away. Then take A3 which will take you to Portsmouth town centre and then you follow signs to Car Ferry. Taking that route will take you to the ferry station where you will be able to take the car ferry to Isle Of Wight. Then you will be asked to drive in to the ferry park and enjoy the 40 minutes ferry to Isle of Wight. You didn’t have to take silversea cruises or royal caribbean cruises to visit Isle of Wight. So all in total it will take two and half hours to get to Isle of Wight from London.

June 10th, 2010

Have a dream of travelling to outer space? Thinking of one day to be an astronaut to see the amazing view of planets? Well there is new travelling adventure in town, space travelling. To be astronauts is not easy and very tiny likelihood to be picked to become one. Astronauts are not in high demand.

There is just one option for you who wish to see the earth or travelling through space, away from earth. How does it feel like? Well, now with new technology space travelling is open to public. You can fly through space.

There is no hassle on booking a hotel if you travel in space. You don’t need to book hotel anymore as the accommodation will be provided on outer space. Hotel accommodation, everything will be on plane. The tourist attraction on outer space is more amazing than anything that on earth. You can say that from space, you can view all the tourist destinations in world; the mountain, the lake, the forest, the snow, the ice etc but just in a tiny view. To view all the wonders in the world at one glance is just amazingly beautiful. Not only earth wonders that you can view on space, but also you can see in a distance the view of stars, moon and other planets.

Space travelling is currently very costly hence not many people can go on that trip. Currently one of the space travel charterer, Virgin Galactic, charges $200.000 for travelling in space.

Not like ordinary hotel deals and travel deals, there are not yet deals available for space travelling. However in the very near future, as the demand of space travelling is high, the price of space travelling will be more affordable. People who want to travel to space is getting higher each year; from hundred to thousand and even to hundred thousand. The space tourism just grows each year. There is even a thought that hotel for space tourism will be built soon.

Travellers are always searching for a new place to travel. Not like the travellers in olden day which count on tours to travel and only travel to popular tourist destination. Currently there are more and more independent travellers emerging and seeking more and more authentic yet unique place to travel to. Space travelling is one of the high demand destinations. More and more people want to explore the space.

History bring us to hot air balloons travelling to aircraft, rockets, jets as medium to travel and now space travelling.

Not like other travel destination, in space travelling you can experience what its fells like to be in a place with ZERO gravity! Moving around in zero gravity might be hard at first. However after you get used to it, you will like it more than walking on earth. Well, if you are not a gymnastic or acrobatic person, you can be one in space! You can juggle around, spin around, and do whatever you like, because you are weightless.

And also not like travelling on plane, before you are allowed to board on a space travelling plane, one are obliged to go through extensive training. To board on Virgin Galactic, the passengers have to take a health check and training for about 3 days.

The view on space is nothing like earth; it is just unbelievable. It might be once in lifetime experience. Some space travellers even sacrifice their several months or years working salary to experience the space travelling.

However as I was saying before, in the near future, it will become more accessible to travel on space. Just like on plane, long years ago, it is a dream to fly on a place, however now in current days, it is just like taking a taxi. Many people can even travel back and forth in different country within a day!

Unlike travelling to other countries where you normally get prepaid phone card to get in touch with your family in home country, you won’t be able to get such facilities when travelling to outer space. Sit back, relax, clear your mind and enjoy your outer space adventures.

Happy space travelling!

Changes In Airlines Trend

June 5th, 2010

Today, more and more people are searching for cheap hotels, discount hotels and hotel deals. Not only hotel deals and travel deals that attracted people to holiday, but also importantly flight deals. For that reason, more airlines are offering cheaper flight rates. In addition to that, more low class carrier airlines emerging in every country, extending their flight to popular travel destination.

In the post Global Financial Crisis era, there are many holiday travellers and business traveller downgrade their airlines class. Those who used to travel on first class downgraded their class to business class, and for those who travel on business downgraded to economy class. Even those who travel on traditional airlines economy class downgraded their airlines to low cost carrier airlines.

Business travellers, who used to travel in business class, now have to squeeze themselves in a long haul flight in economy class. It might not be a good choice if the business travellers have to attend a meeting a few hours after arrival however, for a company the downgrade has saved up to 20-30%. And by downgrading first class to business class, the company has saved up to 70% or even more in some airlines costs. Travellers with big family will surely choose the cheaper option for flight, such as economy class or even low cost carrier.

With the competitive price in low cost carrier, the carrier company try to maximise their revenue by just offering travellers with the maximum 20kg bag per traveller. Some low cost carrier even put the maximum of 10kg per bag per traveller. Some low cost carrier even charge extra for 3rd checked in baggage, and some airlines is also planning to charge extra for hand luggage. This means, if you want to travel on long haul flight in a longer than just a few days holiday, which include shopping spree, you have pay extra charges for the overweight baggage. Some travellers end up paid more than travelling in traditional flight.

Many flight companies are now making some changes to the plane in order to meet the new needs of travellers; Qantas is planning to remove first class in many of their aircraft (which include A380), others remove first class totally and replace it with more business and economy class seats. Many airlines are now introducing premium economy class, which is half price cheaper than business class, with larger seat and separate exclusive cabin. Air France introduced a similar premium voyage cabin, which has fix shelf seat, with 40% space more than economy class.

Put more business and economy class seat, put extra premium economy class is what some airlines make changes to adapt to the current trend. To encounter more demand of low cost carrier, some low cost carrier is planning to remove some of the toilet in their airlines and replace it with more seats.

The introduction of premium economy class has also earned huge interest for travellers who seek for good flight deals with a maximum comfort. This option has gained the most interest the business travellers. Deals are what people looking for these days. Flight deals are just as important as hotel deals as it might cost more to fly than to stay. Check out travel blogs to see more updates from hotel and flight industries. This will definitely help you to plan for your future holiday. Always note to buy international prepaid phone card prior to your travelling to save you time looking to buy phone card when arriving in your destination cities.
