Family Cruise Lines

August 26th, 2010

Cruising is a wonderful family holiday. There are many cruises like MSC cruises, Royal Caribbean cruises, Holland America cruises, Cunard cruises and more who have ships that can cater people from various ages. Choosing the right cruise ship for your family is always difficult when there are 300 ships to choose from 60 cruise lines. Cruising holidays can cost a little so you have to make sure you choose the right cruise line for the money you spend.

Here are the lists of the top family cruise lines at the current moment. Princess cruises, regent cruises, Holland America cruises, MSC cruises, Royal Caribbean cruises, Disney cruise line, celebrity cruises, Costa cruise lines, Crystal cruises and Cunard line.

All of the above cruise lines have terrific service on board with facilities for both children and parents. They all have facilities of mini shopping centres on their ships for people who would like some retail therapy. There are romantic activities such as dancing etc for parents to enjoy with a lovely meal. On a lovely warm day there are bars where you can enjoy lovely cocktails. On board there are also programs for your children which are generally supervised. Cruise lines such as Disney have entertaining Disney characters on board to entertain the kids.

Families can also enjoy many other outdoor and indoor activities together on the ship. Some ships have few swimming pools, few spas and also mini mount climbing for kids and even parents. These are all fun activities which also provide educational gain. If parents are looking a quiet night out then there are baby sitting facilities available on the ship. On the ships there are teen centres where teenagers will be able to do their thing. So cruises can be a tremendous family vacation for all ages. So why not go on a cruise this summer.

What Kind Of People Go On Silversea Cruises?

July 22nd, 2010

Being a photographer on various cruise boats for several years, I managed to meet a great variety of people. I would say that being in a boat for 2 or more weeks generates some very different dynamics compared to the time we spend on the ground. People seem to be more open and relaxed as admittedly they will accept the fact that the boat is where everything happens from developing a new friendship and flirting with someone to breaking up and divorcing!

Any of those massive luxurious boats that cross the oceans are in a sense like small towns. One factor many people overlook at is the fact that on board there aren’t just passengers and holiday-makers but also members of staff that have to stay on the boat for long periods of time. It is strictly forbidden for those people to develop social relationships with the passengers but sometimes it is inevitable.

A common person to find in a luxury boat is about 60 years of age, wealthy and usually retired. Although they all belong to different professions and educational backgrounds, the bottom line is that the vast majority of them are very successful in their fields. Doctors, lawyers, publishers, editors, journalists, and civil engineers coexist with wealthy shop owners, entrepreneurs and tradesmen. That signifies that high education is not really one of the main factors, although a high income is.

Of course there is a small part of passengers who although they don’t make enough to be afford a luxury, they are happy saving hard in order to make their dream come true cruise. Some of them simply want to experience a different lifestyle which differs from their daily one greatly. Even though I gained most of my experiences on Silversea Cruises boats where I worked, other colleagues that used to work on Oceania Cruises and Cunard Cruises have had similar experiences.

When it comes to sports, golf is definitely the number one while cricket and polo are also popular. Taking up a luxury cruise for many people could be a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience but it is definitely worth it..

Getting To Isle Of Wight From London

June 17th, 2010

Isle of Wight is famous for family holiday and also it’s music festival that goes on few times over the summer and many people are looking to go those festival one of which starts this weekend for few days. You will have to catch a wightlink ferry to get there as there is no luxury cruises that you can take to get to Isle of Wight (for posh people, joking).

How to get to Isle of Wight from London? You can catch a ferry from Portsmouth to Isle Of Wight and from London you have to choose which method of travel you will take to get to Portsmouth. There are different ways you can take to get to Portsmouth one is to catch a coach from Victoria or catch a train from Victoria or you can always drive. If you going to Isle of Wight for sight seeing then I would recommend taking your car.

Taking your car is the best thing to do as the public transport is not good in Isle of Wight and also you will need to drive to see beautiful scenery of Isle of Wight and the best thing is it will only tkae 1 to 2 hours to drive around the whole of the island. From London you can take the M25 then take M3 exit towards Southampton then merge into M27 after 52 miles in M3. From M27 Portsmouth is only approximately 20 miles away. Then take A3 which will take you to Portsmouth town centre and then you follow signs to Car Ferry. Taking that route will take you to the ferry station where you will be able to take the car ferry to Isle Of Wight. Then you will be asked to drive in to the ferry park and enjoy the 40 minutes ferry to Isle of Wight. You didn’t have to take silversea cruises or royal caribbean cruises to visit Isle of Wight. So all in total it will take two and half hours to get to Isle of Wight from London.
